I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1971 with a B.S. in Education. I taught in Baytown for four years and then moved on to teach in Bozeman, Montana for another four years, while my husband worked on his doctorate. We moved to Austin, as Richard taught in the math department at Southwest Texas in San Marcos. Although I loved living in Austin (the people, music, food, etc. were great), we lasted only two years there; the beautiful and pristine northwest beckoned us to return. Montana is truly a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

My marriage ended in 1988, but we continued to support each other in the parenting of Cara and Brad. After being a stay at home mom for several years, I returned to full time teaching in 1984 and completed my M. Ed Guidance/Counseling. I taught in the classroom for 13 years, currently working as a middle school counselor these past 4 years, selected to be a district instructor for I.T.I.P (Instructional Theory Into Practice) since 1995 and also at the present a Summer School Coordinator.

My twenty-three year old son, Brad, just married Shanda this past August here in Great Falls. He plans to finish college while stationed in the Army. Cara, my twenty year old, is enrolled at the University of Great Falls and plans to go into physical therapy someday.

What do I like to do for fun? In my younger years I loved to rock climb (my biggest claim to fame would have to be Mt. Moran in the Tetons...7/8 the way up before a storm got the best of us), but that was pre kids when I had no responsibilities. In the summer I golf every chance I get and enjoy fly fishing. During the winter, I play in a tennis league, ski (Alpine and Nordic), play bridge weekly, and belong to a fun book club.

If all goes well, the summer of 2003 I plan to start on my doctorate in guidance and counseling. Better late than never. I have one more summer commitment as a Summer School coordinator.

Other interests would be my involvement in the Episcopal Church, where I have served on the vestry. Naturally, I continue to be active in the Democratic Party and work as the precinct chair person ( I guess shelling pecans with John Nance "Cactus Jack" Garner at his home, as a young girl of eleven, sealed my destiny). My southern roots hung on, as I have been a member of the Great Falls Junior League for at least 15 years, which means I value my community.

I continue to enjoy traveling, especially to Latin countries. Everytime I make it to a new city, I HAVE to take in as many museums that I have time to visit.

Family, friends, spirituality, politics, museums, sports, the out-of-doors, reading, good coffee, education, Italian food, great wine, and travel are very important to me. I will be anxious to read about my classmates. Life has not been perfect, but life has been good to me and for this I have been grateful. Peace.
