Cynthia Dial (aka Cindy Waters) has lived in San Diego with her family (husband Kent and daughters Erin and Kathryn) over 20 years. By California
standards, this tenure qualifies them as natives though all are Texans at heart (including the girls who have never lived in the state).
Cynthia's career as a travel writer has taken the family to many spots around the world (thank goodness, as travel seems to be an expensive addiction with a genetic link for this family). She frequently writes travel articles for newspapers and magazines and most recently authored a book, Teach Yourself Travel Writing, that's in its 2nd printing. Kent's a realtor and the girls are just beginning their careers (both in California). Though not as frequent as they would like, they return to Dallas whenever possible to visit her family (mom and dad live in White Rock Lake area, Sandra with her family in Plano and Richey and his family in Carrollton).
Cynthia has a Bachelor's Degree from the THE University of Texas (Hook 'em, Horns!) in Austin, and since 1988, she has earned a living as a travel writer, touring the world, seeing fascinating and enchanting places, and writing about it for the perusal of others who live vicariously through her writings. But that is only half the story, Cynthia is also a photographer, teacher, public speaker and workshop trainer in the art of writing. She has served as vice chairman of public relations for IFWTO (International Federation of Women’s Travel Organizations), president of the San Diego chapter of Women in Travel, board member of San Diego PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) and producer of special projects for San Diego ASTA (American Society of Travel Agents). In 1990, Cynthia received a CTC (Certified Travel Counselor) designation, an advanced travel industry certification awarded after completing a 3- to 5-year program.
"My home is in San Diego, California, where I live with my husband, Kent, and where we enjoy frequent visits from our two daughters, Erin and Kathryn. My annual challenge is to take advantage of everything Southern California offers. The rest of the time, I travel."
