Ron felt led into full-time Christian ministry following graduation. He received his B.S. degree from Sam Houston State, and his Master's degree in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1972. He has served in numerous churches in Texas, Illinois, and Mississippi as the Minister of Education. He currently serves as the Associate Minister of Education at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.
Ron married the former Linda Mullen of Dayton, Texas in 1971. Their oldest child, Matt, is married and is the Campus Pastor at Prestonwood North Campus. Their daughter, Leah, is married and a stay-at-home mom. Both have two children, which allows Ron and Linda to enjoy four grandchildren, all within a few miles. Ron is actively involved in developing Adult Ministry for the Baby Boomer, which is a radical change from what ministry for Mature Adults has been in the past. The new ministry involves enabling boomers to explore their passion, skills, gifts, and experience in discovering new ways to serve God, the community, and the world.
