Carlton Wade Stovall was born and raised in Oak Cliff, spending the early years of his life on Burns Avenue, behind L.O. Donald Elementary School. He attended L.V. Stockard Junior High School before going on to Kimball in the 1963-64 school year, and he graduated in May, 1966.
Joining the U.S. Army in February, 1968, he separated in January, 1971, then took a position in the Dallas County Maintenance Department, where he was employed for twenty seven years before retiring in May, 1999. Since then, Carlton has worked part-time at Minyard Food Store in Duncanville and currently works full-time at Wal-Mart, near where he now lives with his wife, Dana K. Henderson Stovall. Dana was born in Guyman, Oklahoma and graduated Grover High School (1968) in the farming town of Grover, Texas, then she attended Lubbock Christian College (Lubbock, Texas) where she graduated with a teaching certificate in 1972. The Stovalls have two sons, Warren (born 1977) and Jared Lynn (born 1981). They also have a grandson, Trenton Lynn (born 1999), the child of Jared and his wife Terri. Carlton attended Cedar Valley College beginning in 1988 and received a certificate in residential air conditioning in 1992, followed by an Associates of Applied Sciences Degree in Residential Air Conditioning in 1993. Among other interests, Carlton enjoys trains. His uncle was a railroad man for many years, and Carlton enjoys photographing trains, from old steam locomotives to modern electric trains like the Amtrak line.
