"After graduation, I attended one semester at NTSU (now UNT) and then headed out to San Francisco with a few fellow KHS grads that will remain nameless. I spent the next two years exploring the concepts of better living through chemistry and migrating between Mexico, Austin, Denton and SF with my little import and distribution business. I survived.
"Being a non-student at that time got me drafted and I spent the next two years in the good ole US Army with one (is enough) tour in Viet Nam as a grunt infantryman. I survived. "After a (believe or not) honorable discharge I returned to Denton, hooked up with old friends and went to work for Showco. For the next three years I traveled as a rodie with major 70’s rock groups. I survived. "Fearing that I might not survive, I gave that up. Got married, went back to college, got divorced, dropped out of college and worked as a lumber trader for a few years. Got married had kids, went back to college and graduated with a degree in rehabilitation counseling. Practiced as a rehab counselor for about ten years, it drove me crazy and I had an opportunity go to work for MCI as a project manager. MCI was bought out by World Com and that all crashed. In the next four years I worked for three different Telecom companies as project manager, process manager and project analyst as they went up, went down traded off, went under - I survived. "With the kids grown and building their own lives (I survived), we decided, on a whim, to move to Florida. Sold the house and headed for paradise - all the while feeling a little like a traitor to the Great Republic of Texas. "We have been on the southwest Florida coast for the last eight years. I work for WalMart as a training coordinator. Debie is a clinic supervisor for a dentist. We enjoy some of the best fishing in the world. Take boat trips to Key West. Work in our organic garden, grow mangos, pineapple, banana, avocado, key limequat, and lychee. "Married for 32 years of continual bliss "Life is good - Livin’ the dream!" |
