Sharon Lee Jones was born and raised in Oak Cliff, attending L.O. Donald Elementary School, L.V. Stockard Junior High School and Justin F. Kimball High School. Her best friend growing up was Linda Airhart, and she spent most summers at the swimming pool in Martin Weiss Park on Coombs Creek playing with Linda, Emalee Linville, Marc McCord, Randy Stovall and others with whom she attended school all the way through graduation from Kimball in 1966. She was a Brownie Scout in a troop lead by her mother, Esther, and spent a lot of time exploring the woods around Keats and Coombs Creek affectionately referred to as "Whispering Cedars".
After high school, Sharon attended Baylor University in Waco for one year, then moved to California. Today, she lives in Modesto with her husband, Brent McDonald, where she works for the Modesto Bee newspaper. Sharon and Linda still maintain contact, and remain best friends, seeing each other whenever they can. Sharon can be contacted via e-mail at sharon-brent@msn.com. The link below is to Sharon's father's web page, and tells a brief story of an intersting character who was a WWII bomber pilot in campaigns across Germany and Europe. |
