After graduation Judy Kay Hawthorne (Bryant) became a teacher and actively pursued that career for 32 years, including 27 years in DISD. She retired in 2006, to continue part time work as the Political Action Vice President and Retiree Chair of Alliance/AFT. Since the spring of 2012, she has held the part time position as the Field Organizer for the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans, which is part of a 4 million member group nationwide. "We work to educate and advocate for senior issues regarding Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid as well as many other topics." Our motto is "Let's Not Be The Last Generation To Retire!" She invites fellow Knights to check out TARA at http://www.texasretiredamericans.org/.

Judy is active in her church, Northpark Presbyterian, having served twice as an Elder and once as a Deacon. She has long been on the Mission Committee and is currently serving as Vickery Mission Chair and Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services Ambassador.

"I am a true Longhorn through and through (thus my email address) and follow UT Sports, but especially football! I have season tickets and enjoy the games with friends or my grandkids!"

"Judy's life also includes other very special activities. "My favorite thing to do any time is spend time with my grandchildren who live in Keller. Maddie is 10 and in Intermediate School and Ashton and Rhett, 6 1/2, are in first grade. I am a regular volunteer at their schools and still enjoy helping kids learn!"

She is also a long time member and current Vice President of Beta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international women's education sorority.

Judy would enjoy hearing from other Kimball classmates, and can be reached by phone at 214-349-4295 or via e-mail at Judy4UT@aol.com.
