"As I begin my 73rd year I look back and reminisce: After KHS 66 graduation, headed to Denton to get my BS in Physics and Mathematics and graduate in 1971. Was hoping to work for NASA or JPL or similar on the space progam.

"While at NTSU was inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma National Physics Honor society. Met my bride to be (50 years this June) on a summer Sunday nite at Grace Temple BC in Oak Cliff in July of 1967.

"After NTSU - then on to UT Dallas in 1971 for MS Physics and Math and honored in 1973 as the very first graduate of the new UTD Grad School program (UTD was started by Texas Instruments as the Southwest Research Center for Advanced Studies, then it was given by TI to the UT System and became UT Dallas.) While there, did some rocket/satellite data (OGO-Orbiting Geological Observatory Satellite) analysis on the energy distribution spectrum of the solar wind (the stream of high energy electrons - which is what causes the Aruora Borealis.)

"As the MS degree wraps up, realizing that the Lunar Apollo program is over, and R&D $ is drying up - Dental school looks like a good option. So started in 1973 and graduated in their short lived 3 year program- all the same courses and clinical requirements and stuff the 4 year plans did but done in only 3 years - what the heck - can sleep later. We then moved to Lubbock for what was supposed to be a 1 year gig, finding the economy much better there in 1976 than any other places, we stayed 36 years - building from zero to a multi office, multi doc largest dental practice in West Texas at the time. There we were blessed and able to build our 7k sq ft dream house by age 40 (a goal of mine) and lived in it the last 25 years we were there. We were blessed so much by so many people being our patients we began to do an annual Christmas open house - for 22 of those years - entertaining 300 - 400 people in a come & go open house evening to thank them for supporting our dental businesses We retired 2012 to relocate to Joshua, near where our sons lived. One son is a DDS also and met his wife, also DDS, in dental school. They own their practice in Burleson. They have blessed us with 2 adorable grand daughters, who live about 4 blocks away! Our other son works in retail in the area tool. I maintain my DDS license so far - to practice part time in a local indigent clinic in Cleburn and am available to help our son & daughter-in-law on occasion.

"These days we spend most of our time traveling in our motor home to see the USA. In our 40s and 50s w did our foreign travel - and with today's world conditions we're happy to stay state side, besides we can take our schnauzer pups with us this way! We do have a flight and 2 week cruise reserved to go to Australia and New Zealand in November as our 50th anniversary celebration trip. We still have my 4 classic cars to keep me tinkering etc. I serve as a Deacon in our church, and have in each church we attended since ordination in about 1983. UI just began his 10th year of retirement on the first of this month, my birthday month, and we survived 2020!!

"UPDATE: We celebrated our 50th anniversary last year but had to delay our celebration Australian Cruise to maybe this year? I still have my classic cars. Made it to Colorado for our annual 6 wk RV camping, fishing and site seeing vacation and got caught in a freak early September snow storm there, 8" in two days. got snowed in in the motor home for almost a week before thaw and trip home. We caught about 100 trout @ limit of 5/day, enjoyed campfire, smores and r-connected with other camp friends at Fun Valley, CO. Praying 2021 is better for us all including more rv trips, fewer doctor appts, etc. Grand daughters are now 4 and 7 and live about 3 blocks from us. Working some with DDS son Chris on a few full mouth reconstruction cases.

"I hope all of us KHS 66 survivors continue to stay healthy enough to have another 20-25 birthdays here before we're done and Jesus calls us home!! Happy 2021 to all!

"It would be great to hear from any of you , just email me at ronahawk@aol.com. My hope for each of you is that life has been good, and getting better, and that it turns out for you the way you choose!"
