After graduating from Kimball Donna attended Hill Junior College in Hillsboro, Texas for two years, and was elected to be a Cheerleader there, go figure....ha!!!!! "Little did they know how pitiful I was at that cheering thang, but it did not take them long to figure it out.... I think I was more of the College Clown instead of a Cheerleader, and I know that comes as a big surprise...."

After getting her Associates degree her Mother thought it would be a good idea to send her to Texas Lutheran College and maybe that would be a good influence on her and keep her out of trouble.... NOT!!!!!! "I only attended Texas Lutheran one year and you know how those preacher's kids are. I fell in with them and at the end of the year was encouraged to attend another school by the Dean of Women....."

Donna then married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Houser and they both attended and graduated from Texas A&M University and shared a lot of good times together. "After 4+ years of marriage I gave that up for Lent one year." Donna received a Bachelor of Science from A&M in Sociology & Psychology hoping to become a Juvenille Counselor in Dallas and wasn't that a shocker since she was somewhat of a troublemaker herself as a youngster. "I guess ornery would be the word for me ...."

"Anyway, I tried for a few years to get a job with the Dallas Juvenille System and the only job offer I ever got was to be a probation officer, and I said no thank you." So she worked at Methodist Hospital for the Doctor who was head of Physical Therapy & Rehab and enjoyed working some with the Social Work department and other rehab centers, helping the doctor set up rehab programs for patients and make sure insurance was being processed on their behalf.

Then she moved around to a few other jobs, one including being an Office Manager for an Enginering Firm. Then, she bought a Silkscreening & T-shirt business which she ran for approximately 12 1/2 years. Then being a small business, the economy and an overabundance of competition forced her out of business around 1996. "I now work for Avnet Inc. in their Accounts Payable Division and it is so refreshing to get a regular paycheck."

"I have been very fortunate in my life since High School and have many experiences that I will cherish for the remainder of my life. I have also been very very lucky. I have been very fortunate to have good health and am very thankful to be alive today."

You know that old saying about "She must have fallen off the Turnip Truck" - well Donna did, but it was not a turnip truck. It was a friend's truck - they had just finished practicing softball and all piled in the back of her friend's pick up. Donna sat on the tailgate, something she had done many times in her life. Well, when her friend took off Donna flew off the back and landed on her butt first, thank goodness, and then slammed her head on the concrete. "I suffered a severe closed head injury and went through some rough days for a while but pulled through, so I am very fortunate and thankful that the good Lord decided he wasn't quite ready for me up there ... and I thank Him everyday for giving me life. "

"Hope I did not rattle on too much, just trying to give some history about myself since we graduated. I am still somewhat of a crazy person but now when I do crazy things, I can blame it on the brain damage! YEAH, RIGHT!"
