After graduation, in September, 1966, Mike went to work for L.T.V. Aerospace Corp. He has been at Vought Corporation for the past 35 years in which he was U.A.W. union steward for 13 years. As for work, he has worked on many types of aircraft including the A-7 Corsair, F-8 Crusader, S-3A Viking, Bell 222 Jet helicopter, C-130 transport, Boeing 747, McDonald-Dounglas DC-10, Northrop Grumman B-2 Stealth Bomber and now on the Boeing C-17 Globe Master.
In the summer of 1970, Mike met his future wife at Kiest Park; her maiden name was Debra Sue Morris. They were married in June, 1970. They have only one child, Brandi Lyn. "I lost my father in 1971, my mother in 1983 and my only brother Steve in 1988. I have been married for 30 years this past June, 2001. I have one grandchild; her name is Conleigh Allise Newsom she will be 4 in September, 2001." "I enjoy going fishing whenever I can. I do a lot of home remodeling, as I enjoy this very much too. My best high school friend John "Tiny" Glantz has been to all our class reunions and just a reminder, I hope all of you stay in touch through the new Web Site and call an X-Knight when you can."
