Born in 1948 in Corpus Christi, Texas, Winn Becton's artistic expression began with junior high drawings given to friends, led to church posters and banners of coming events and extended to working on props and sets for Kimball High School in Dallas. One year at the University of Texas and four years at Gulf-Coast Bible College where he majored in Psychology and Theology served as an unintended hiatus from his creativity; Winn refers to as his "dark period."

Emerging, he focused time and energy copying detailed pictures, spending hours perfecting his abilities when he wasn't at his job as a bank vice-president in Chicago. For those critical skills, he sought out accomplished artists for private lessons. Later, a move to Dallas and the purchase of a frame shop enabled him to learn techniques like gold-leafing, marbling and fine custom finishes. He then began experimenting on walls, lamps, tables, ceilings, discovering his love of photo realistic interpretation was not limited to canvas.

It was in Fayetteville, Arkansas, some years later, that he decided his passion could be his life's work. His training in small detail and love for establishing aesthetic mood made him well-suited for Trompe L'Oeil ( trick of the eye ). His work burgeoned, driven certainly by his talent, but mobilized by his professional business perspective, greatly influenced by his mother's business expertise.

" Many Artists," Winn says, "think that being an artist entitles you to do what you want. For me, client satisfaction is my ultimate objective. So, I take the time to listen to my clients, their ideas, the mood they wish to express, the colours they want to use." Winn offers portfolios of ideas for clients to peruse and establish an open dialogue for this partnership of creativity. " I want to be sure my perception matches my client's," he says.

Winn welcomes queries from all. Whether you have a house to transform into a castle, a simple end table seeking new identity, a floor in need of a faux rug, Winn Becton Jr. will make you glad you found this site!
