Following high school Rick was educated at Dallas County Jr. College, and then took a job in the Kansas City area as a manufacturer's representative in the glass and hardware business. After working for 22 years and living out of a suitcase, he went to work for a long time friend in the business band radio industry. After two years, the company put him on the road installing everything from radios in police cars to large cell phone sites all over the country. Taxi cabs, buses, trucks and even casinos in the states of Illinois and Missouri were just a normal part of his business day.
Rick lived in the Kansas City area for 32 years before moving to Seattle for one year to be with his only daughter and their two grand kids while his son-in-law was overseas in the Air Force. When his son-in-law returned to Seattle they were transferred to Germany, and Rick saw a good time to retire and moved to Dallas and marry his long time classmate Susan Raye. They were married in March, 2007. Rick and Susan live in Plano, Texas, and he enjoys golf and working with his ham radio. He has been a real ham since he was 12 years old and still enjoys the hobby.
