After graduation, Jerry did his time in the Army with the 82nd at Fort Bragg, and the reserve's. He attended Dallas Baptist College and his first real civilian job was as sporting goods manager for Montgomery Ward.

Jerry then spent 23 years with MetLife in sales and management, and the last 12 years self-employed in financial services.

"I married Brenda, the love of my life, 18 months ago. What can I say except life can be complete? If you don't have true love go find it. It is waiting for you. Just let go and let God lead and life is great.

"I have three children and a stepson, Patric, as well as four grandchildren which keep Brenda and I really busy. Robert, my oldest, graduated Texas A&M, and has been with the USAF for 17 years. He is currently a Major and stationed with the Strategic Air Command, serving as a Chief, ICBM Production Space and Global Strike Command. I have a wonderful daughter-in-law, Valerie, and two grandchildren, Libby and Jake. My daughter, Emily, graduated from SMU in 2004 and in 2005 married a wonderful man named Matt. My son Drew, who turns 19 on March 8, 2006, is attending college and finding life. Brenda has two grandchildren, Dylan and Cameron, whom I love dearly. Brenda's son, Patric, is a super guy and a good friend.

"Brenda and I love life. We are active in our church and volunteer in helping our community in many ways. We work with refugees from Sudan, volunteer with Austin Street Shelter, and work as team leaders for Hearts and Hammers of Dallas.

"What I found over the years is life is what you make it. If you are not enjoying life, change it. In addition, do not forget to let go and let God hold you hand on the way."
