Steve Adams
My military service was somewhat atypical
After graduation from J. F. Kimball High School in the spring of 1966, Steve crammed four years of intensive learning into seven, being graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in the spring of 1973. He earned a BFA Degree with a concentration in Advertising Design and a minor in Art History. Since the conferring of that degree, Steve says that he has never been questioned by an employer prior to his hiring of his educational status. In fact, he has been asked only once if he had a college degree and that was a time when he was applying for financing of a new automobile. "Since that time I have still financed new cars, but conferred a doctorate degree upon myself."

Steve married the former Carol Ann Thompson, a Sunset High School graduate, in September of 1969 and for better or worse, they are still married today. Steve and Carol have two daughters, Stephanie Ann, 15 and Stacey Carol, 10. "The former is adopted and the latter we built from scratch. All the women in my life are lovely, vivacious, interesting people who are truly my pride and joy."

Steve has worked in the advertising profession since 1973, first for a large retailer, then a couple of large agencies. Since 1987, he has had his own studio/agency, Stephen M. Adams Creative. His office is in Dallas' West End Entertainment District ("if you gotta go to work, it may as well be someplace fun") and his client roster currently includes AT&T Wireless Services, The City of Grand Prairie, and American Eurocopter. Past credits include campaigns for Anheuser Busch Beverage Group, Miller Brewing, Red Man Chewing Tobacco, Libby's, Libby's, Libby's, Zales Jewelers and Pulte Homes.

"I live in Grand Prairie, the longest city in the Metroplex. Not the largest, just the longest. And I love it. Most people don't know that I am a native Grand Prairian, I was just born in Dallas and it took me 37 years to get to my home town." Steve has chaired the Chamber of Commerce in GP, currently chairs a city commission and serves on several boards of local charitable and community organizations. Carol Ann is also active with civic and charitable groups and they both are active in their church, St. Joseph's Episcopal in Grand Prairie.

"My interests include travel. Our family tries to go to somewhere in Mexico yearly; it's our favorite destination. We also spend a lot of long weekends at our lake place on Cedar Creek Lake. I sail "Snake2" my Santana 25 and usually play golf badly three or four times a year. My wife, younger daughter and I have been bitten by the thespian bug. We are frequent participants in local community theater events. Cooking has also become a passion of mine to which my waistline can attest."
